Wanda Massey

Wanda Faye Massey, 87, of Cross Plains passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2022. Born October 7, 1934 in Altus, Oklahoma, Wanda was the daughter of the late Charles Doyle Johnston and Lily Jewel Blakley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lester Massey in 2003, and her siblings, Wilma Berry, Albert Carl Johnston, Kenneth Ray Johnston, and Betty June Boyett. Wanda moved to Michigan as a young married woman and went to work for the Ford Motor Company. Following her retirement from Ford she moved to Florida and eventually to middle Tennessee. As a young girl, Wanda played basketball and developed an interest in sports. She became an avid basketball fan and especially enjoyed watching “March Madness” each season. She remained interested in fitness as well and maintained a membership at Curves into her senior years. Wanda loved family and being at the various family gatherings and celebrations. She enjoyed the weddings, graduations, and of course, watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in sporting events. She was their biggest fan. Wanda is survived by her two daughters, Glenda Webb (Paul), and Sammie Mecklenburg (John); her six grandchildren, James (Rachael) Thrift, Michael (Shayna) Webb, Robert (Darcie) Vogen, Lessina Lewis (Sean), Steven (Jocelyn) Mecklenburg, and Alex-John Mecklenburg; ten great-grandchildren, Shane Webb, Lance Vogen, Conner Shuh, Josie Vogen, Ashlyn Thrift, Malone Thrift, Henry Mecklenburg, Arthur Mecklenburg, Shalynn Webb, Jayden Webb; and three great-great-grandchildrem, Renesmae Webb, Lyric Webb, and Elijah Vogen. Visitation for Wanda will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, White House, TN, Friday from 4 until 7 PM and Saturday from 12 until 2 PM. A celebration of Life service will be held at the funeral home Saturday at 2 PM followed by interment at White House Memorial Gardens.
