Lyle Schleusener

Lyle Dean Schleusener, 67, of Goodlettsville passed away Wednesday October 20, 2021. Born into farm life in Pender, Nebraska in 1953, moved to Minnesota in 1954, then moved to Southern California in 1959, and finally moved to Tennessee in 1983. He was the son of the late Dale W. Schleusener and Twila Yvonne Soll Schleusener. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Margie Yvonne Altevers. A hard worker and man of strong standards, Lyle was a dedicated and talented machinist by trade. His most recent position was in the maintenance department of St. Thomas Hospital. He was extremely mechanically inclined and could fix anything. He had a love of cars, especially AMX cars and had personally rebuilt the motor of his 1972 AMX. He enjoyed car racing (especially Fords), loved driving and taking road trips. He was sometimes stubborn, often outspoken and also known as a giving man with a big heart. He loved football and was a Green Bay Packers fan. He was a 36 yr. recovering alcoholic. Lyle loved his family above all else. He had a goal to fight and push through his illness to make it to his 50th wedding anniversary. This sadly was not to be. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sally Pinto Schleusener; two daughters, Lana LaCorte (Tony) and Tina Rene Burns (Greg); two grandchildren, Taylor Mae Shaw and Luke Thomas Burns; two brothers, Keith D. Schleusener (Mary) and Chris E. Schleusener; two nieces, Arlene M. Bayer and Rene M. Schleusener Hill; nephew Isaac W. Schleusener; several great-nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville, TN Saturday, November 20th at 12 noon with inurnment to follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens. An hour of visitation will precede the service from 11 am to 12 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nashville Humane Society.
