John Stidham, Jr

August 3, 1953 — April 23, 2023

John Homer Stidham Jr, age 69, passed peacefully on 23 Apr 2023 in Nashville Tennessee.  Born of John Homer Stidham Sr and Wilma Jean Stidham (Grigsby) in Batesville Indiana on 3 Aug 1953.  He is survived by his two children, Shelley Marie Stidham (Tony) and John H Stidham III (Monica) his two grandchildren Tatiana and Mateo as well as his mother Jean Stidham, sister Margie DeLoach (Allen) and brother Phillip H Stidham (Cindy) and other beloved family members.

The Stidham family moved from Indiana to Tennessee in 1966.  He attended the old Beech Elementary and then Hendersonville High School where he met and held dear many of his childhood friends.  A well-rounded young man, he loved playing his trumpet in the high school band and singing choir solos at the First Baptist Church of Goodlettsville where he was baptized.  He loved scouting and attained the rank of Eagle Scout (Troop 182).  John loved and played many sports but excelled as a baseball catcher.  And of course, he loved his Kentucky Wildcats, Cincinnati Reds and SF 49ers!

John was selected #3 in the 1973 Vietnam draft and quickly decided that the US Navy was the right fit for his future military service.  For the next 4 years, he proudly served in the Pacific fleet aboard the USS Enterprise “Big E” attaining the rank of EM2 until his honorable discharge in 1976.  While stationed in California, John met and married his wife Angie and after his tour of service ended, they returned briefly to Tennessee and started their young family.  After a few years, he moved his family back to northern California where he eventually pursued what would be his life long career in real estate.  John loved his career as a realtor.

For several years, he organized and chaired his East Bay Realtors group’s meetings.  His altruistic nature led him to take an active role in his local “Make a Wish” program where they raised money to provide specialized lifting wheel chairs for people who couldn’t otherwise stand on their own.  This was one of his proudest achievements.

After his marriage ended, John returned to Tennessee to be closer to his aging parents and again resumed his real estate career in Hendersonville.  John was indeed a special guy, who’s charisma and infectious humor made him the life of the party.  He genuinely loved people and never met a stranger.

He loved his family and cherished his role as grandpa and was always ready to share the latest video of his grandchildren’s achievements.  John happily shared his final 12 years with his life-partner, Mary (Marsh) Stewart, who just recently preceded him.

John enjoyed a full and fortunate life with few regrets.  He will be greatly missed.

Family will host a facebook live memorial service from John's facebook page and Shelley's Instagram page on Friday, May 26th starting at 1pm.
