John L. Hewgley, 89, of Goodlettsville, TN was born December 6, 1932 in Nashville, TN and passed away on June 5, 2022 in Goodlettsville.

A beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather he is survived by children, Debbie Primm of Franklin, TN, and Mike Hewgley (Yolanda) of Hendersonville, TN; grandchildren, Leah Primm Moss (David) of Franklin, TN, Christopher Hewgley of Hendersonville, TN and John M. Hewgley (DeShawn) of Goodlettsville, TN; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Caleb, and Luke Moss of Brentwood, TN; and brother, Lawrence Hewgley of Cleveland, TN.

Mr. Hewgley was preceded in death by his parents, Robert A. and Florence Hewgley of Nashville, TN; siblings, Robert and William Hewgley, and Lucille Koback; his wife, Christine Beal Hewgley; and son-in-law, Melvin Primm of Hendersonville.

John L. graduated from Isaac Litton High School in 1951. He then joined the Army and served in South Korea from 1953 – 1955. After returning home he promptly married his sweetheart, Christine Beal. Mr. Hewgley was an independent contractor who started a business with his father, Robert A. Hewgley and Sons. As electrical engineers they helped power up rock crushing plants in Tennessee and Alabama. He was a faithful church member attending Alta Loma Baptist before becoming a founding member of Trinity Baptist Church. He served as a deacon and was a proud member of Gary Faulkner’s Sunday School Class. Mr. Hewgley enjoyed fishing, nascar, and was a sports enthusiast. He faithfully followed Vanderbilt athletics. His real joy was encouraging and watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren participate in sports. He attended hundreds of games.

A big thank you to Brookdale Memory Care facility where Mr. Hewgley resided a little over a year. A loving and kind staff took such good care of our father. We love and appreciate their call to service.

Funeral services will be held at Cole and Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville, TN, Friday June 10th at 11:30 AM. Visitation will precede the funeral from 9:30 until 11:30 AM. Burial with military honors will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery at 1:00 PM.

Active Pallbearers will be, Gary Faulkner, Leon Pennington, Chris Hewgley, John M. Hewgley, David Moss, Aidan Moss, Caleb Moss, and Luke Moss.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church he loved: Trinity Baptist Church, 840 Forest Retreat Rd., Hendersonville, TN.

Heaven is rejoicing at the Homecoming of a good and faithful servant, John L. Hewgley, as he reunites with family and friends that preceded him in death and he meets his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
