Dorothy Odean Stinson, age 89 of Goodlettsville passed away on May 18, 2017.
She was born on May 12, 1928 to the late Frank and Ella Mae Gulley in Hermitage Springs, Tennessee.
Mrs. Stinson is a member of Goodlettsville Church of Christ. She enjoyed making their house into a home for their family. Mrs. Stinson and her husband traveled and went camping at numerous places during their marriage; some of their favorite places were Fall Creek Falls and Bryce Canyon in Utah. She would sit down months before the trip and plan each stop along their way. After Vernon retired they would continue traveling out west but as the years went by would stay closer to home and travel with the Model A Club around the Middle Tennessee Area.
Mrs. Stinson observed many remarkable sites while traveling over the years; yet nothing compared to the joy and beauty of watching her children grow up and start a family of their own. She was blessed with four amazing grandchildren and her time was filled with softball, baseball, volleyball and basketball games becoming their own personal cheerleader over the years.
She will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stinson is preceded in death by her step-mother Ona Gulley, and siblings Buford Gulley and Marie Gulley.
She is survived by her faithful and devoted husband of 50 years, Vernon Stinson; children, Darren (Sharon Henley) Stinson and Michelle (David) Sperlich; grandchildren Jacob Stinson, Riley Sperlich, Caleb Stinson, and Carly Sperlich; and siblings, Mabel Richardson, Louise (Paul) Presley and Brenda (Bob) Harris.
A Life Celebration will be held at 12:00pm on Monday, May 22, 2017 in the Chapel of Cole and Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville with Minister Charles Baugh officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Tim Presley, Cooper Presley, Randy Miller, Ricky Gulley, Craig Gulley and David Wrye serving as pallbears. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 21 from 3pm to 8pm then again on Monday from 10 until the time of service at the funeral home.
