Dan H. Gibson, age 79 of Sumner County, TN passed August 8, 2021. Parents were Johnnie Sue Brisby Gibson and Henry Shane Gibson. Born in Nashville, TN, went to East High School, and due to the generosity of Mr. Mack Brothers, attended Memphis State University on a TGA Golf Scholarship. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Dan worked at Harpeth Hills Golf Course. For 6 years, operated Riverview Golf Course in Shelby Park, now known as “Vinny Links”. His greatest pleasure in life was teaching 25 junior golfers every Monday morning. Next, he went to Shelby golf course, then Centennial Park office, to become superintendent of golf operations for the 7 Metro Golf Courses. He worked for Metro Parks for 36 years, and was a life member of the PGA America. He was predeceased by his wife, Julia and his sister Elizabeth. Dan is survived by his sister Helen. Two daughters Gretta and Christie. Five Grandchildren: Terry, Daniel, Bruce-Craig, Christine, Brandon. And 12 Great-Grandchildren: Trey, Jacob, Danica, Ashdon, Honesty, Bruce, Kellen, Jaxon, Caroline, Harmony, Kane, and Lincoln. Two Nieces: Rachel and Anita. One Great Nephew: Daniel, Two Great Nieces: Christina and Hannah. Honorary Pallbearers: The Garrett Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church Goodlettsville, Employees of the Metro Board of Parks and Recreation, Employees of Golf House of TN and members of The Gideons Northeast Camp. Visitation with the family will be at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home Goodlettsville Wednesday August 11 from 5-8pm and Thursday August 12 from 12 Noon until service at 2pm. Interment will be at Middle Tennessee State Veteran’s Cemetery on McCrory Lane Friday August 13 at 9am.
