James Thomas "Tommy" "Big" Hampton, Sr., passed away on June 13, 2026, in Anaconda, Montana. Tommy was born on January 5, 1967, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Charles Hampton and Ivy Hampton.
Tommy was preceded in death by his brother Bobby Hampton, sister Charlotte Gregory, Grandmother Ethel Adamsom, niece Sewana Hampton, and two beloved nephews.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 40 years, Karen Hampton, son James Hampton, Jr., daughter Jessica Hampton, his cherished fur babies Niko, Bella, Binx, and Dixie.
Tommy enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He loved grilling, mowing the grass, spending time at the lake, and taking trips to Florida. Although his work allowed him to travel extensively, Colorado remained his favorite state to visit. He enjoyed watching television shows, such as Mysteries at the Museum, documentaries about King Tut and ancient Egypt, Gettysburg, and anything pertaining to the paranormal, Bigfoot, or westerns.
Known for his sense of humor and playful nature, Tommy was a true prankster who could always make those around him laugh. He was a devoted Titans and Vandy football fan, a dedicated father, and a loving husband who treasured every moment spent with his family.
Tommy proudly worked for ABG Caulking Contractors, where he dedicated nearly 28 years of service, beginning in July 1998. His strong work ethic and commitment were evident throughout his career. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Wesley, Arles, and Elizabeth Greene for their friendship, support, and kindness.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., and Monday, June 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life service at 12:00 p.m., all at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville.
Burial will follow at Luton’s United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Tommy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His laughter, loyalty, and love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
