Thelma Grisham, age 86, passed away peacefully in Atlanta, GA, on December 30, 2025. Born on January 28, 1939, in Willow Grove, TN, Thelma embraced life with a confident and headstrong spirit that was matched only by her sense of humor and sass.
Throughout her lifetime, Thelma cultivated a warm and welcoming home, especially during the holidays, when the spirit of family came alive. Many fond memories are treasured by her family, who often gathered at her house for Christmas celebrations filled with love, laughter, and the cozy tradition of wearing matching pajamas. Her home was a reflection of her vibrant personality, adorned with her cherished collection of unicorn decor, which she proudly displayed.
A lover of beauty in all its forms, Thelma enjoyed gardening and found joy in tending to her flower beds, allowing their vibrant florals to flourish. In her later years, she discovered a newfound passion for art, often capturing the beauty of the flowers she had nurtured through her paintings. Thelma possessed a keen eye for fashion and jewelry, reflecting her own beauty and personality.
Above all, Thelma's proudest accomplishment was her family. She cherished them deeply, ensuring that their photos and memories were always prominently displayed around her home, showcasing her pride and love.
Thelma is preceded in death by her loving husband George Wallace Grisham, parents Hilery and Ada Key Estep, daughter Pamela Hall, son Gregory Thompson, and her grandchildren Amy and David Thompson. She is also preceded in death by her eight brothers and sisters: Hubert Estep, Reba Estep Jackson, Harold Estep, Maureen Estep Clinard, Madeline Estep Howard, J.P. Estep, Norma Estep Murphy, Mary Estep Sanford. She is survived by her son Michael Thompson, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Although she is gone her memory will forever reside within them.
Thelma Grisham leaves behind a rich legacy filled with beautiful memories, a nurturing spirit, and unyielding love for her family. Her funeral service will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Goodlettsville, TN, on January 7, 2026. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens at 3:00 PM on the same day.
