Stephen Allen McKinney, 65, of Goodlettsville passed away at Vanderbilt Medical Center, January 7, 2021 with his daughter at his bedside. Born December 14, 1955 in Morristown, TN, he was the son of Marian (Curbow) McKinney and the late David Bruce McKinney. Stephen was raised and educated in Knoxville, TN where he graduated from Beardon High School. He graduated from Auto / Diesel School now part of Knoxville Community College and became a Master Mechanic. He worked for the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) for 29 years. He was a talented mechanic whose love of cars was evident in the way he worked on and rebuilt them for himself and others aside from his career work. Above all, Stephen loved his family. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather who always put his family first. He was an avid UT Vols fan and enjoyed discussing the games as much as watching them. He was also a Nascar fan and loved all things Chevy, especially corvettes. Growing up in Knoxville he had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Stephen is survived by his mother, Marian McKinney of Naples, FL; daughter, Stephanie White (Charles) of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Natalie, Lexie and David White; Sister, Rhonda Bovine (Tom) of Dayton, TN; Niece, Emily B. Stanley (Brandon) of Chattanooga; Nephew, Nathan Bovine; extended family and many friends. A Life Celebration service will be held Wednesday, January 13th at 6 pm at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home Goodlettsville. Visitation will precede the service and be held from 4 to 6 pm. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
