WILKERSON, Samuel W. age 89 of Nashville, TN. March 15, 2008. Son of the late George & Clara Ragsdale Wilkerson. He is survived by his wife, Mary Wilkerson; sons, Eugene Sylvia Wilkerson, Wayne Rosie Wilkerson, Herbert Wilkerson; daughter, Cherie Frank Gilley; step-daughter, Kay Hubert Spears; five grandchildren, Andrea Rob Eanes, Bert Jennifer Spears, Chad Wilkerson, Jana Charlie Holt, and Jason Wilkerson; six great-grandchildren, Cameron and Drew Eanes, Eliza Spears, Sarah Weeks, Peyton and Tanner Reynolds; sisters, Marjorie Miro of California and Elizabeth Bannester of Nashville. Mr. Wilkerson retired as an Assistant Chief with the Metro/Nashville Fire Department in 1989 after 48 years of service. During WWII he served as a 3rd Class Machinist in the Navy from 1943 until 1945. He was a 32 Degree Mason and a member of Corinthian Masonic Lodge #414, Al Menah Shrine Temple-Legion of Honor, Nashville Elks Lodge #72, West Nashville Moose Lodge, VFW Post 1970, American Legion Post 5 and Hillsboro/Harding Road Exchange Club.
A Masonic Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at West Harpeth Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Belle Meade United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Joe Haney, Paul Tant, Tommy Hudgens, Boyce Wilkins, Sr., Don Johnson and Gene Hunter. Visitation will be Tuesday 12 noon until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
