Royce Vaughn

Born in Battle Creek, MI on August 20, 1940 Departed on February 9, 2006 and resided in Hendersonville, TN

Passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Roger was born in Battle Creek, Mich., the son of the late Roger Burns Vaughn and Danise Allred Vaughn of Alpine, Tenn. He graduated from Livingston Academy in 1958 and earned a BS degree from Tennessee Tech University in 1963. Roger was employed by DuPont and Reemay where he worked in sales and engineering. He was a man of many interests including hiking, flying, woodworking, farming and restoration of vintage cars. He will be remembered as an extraordinary, ordinary man who loved God, family, people and his country.
Roger was a member of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville. He was ordained as a deacon at Bluegrass Baptist Church in 1977 and subsequently served as chairman of that deacon body. He was a member of the Gideons. He held membership in the Antique Automobile Club of America and the Sumner County Vintage Car Club and in time past judged the early Fords. Roger was a 32nd degree Mason. He served his country through the Tennessee National Guard where he held the rank of 1st Lt..
Roger is survived by his wife of 42 years, Clata Mullinix Vaughn, a son, Nathan Burns Vaughn Stephanie Willis of Hendersonville, and a daughter, Nicole Vaughn Vines J. Jack Vines, Jr. of Kirkwood, Missouri. He leaves five precious grandchildren, Nathan Vaughn, Jr., Malayna Vines, Savannah Vaughn, Marin Vines and Landon Vaughn. He is also survived by his mother, Danise Vaughn, a sister, Deborah Sullivan, and brothers-in-law, Bob R. Mullinix Sandra Bullock and Jerry D. Mullinix Faye Wright. Surviving aunts and uncles are Robert M. Vaughn, Joel Vaughn, David Vaughn, Bobbie Bush, Hildagarde Vaughn, Dr. B.F.Allred, Jimmie Bullock and Nawausa Hargis. A sister, Diane Vaughn, preceded him in death.
Honorary pallbearers are members of a special group of men who provided respite care and added much quality to Roger's life over the past three years-Ron Page, Richard Head, Charles Joseph, Terry Mason, Ed Bailey, Bob Brown, Earl Carnahan, Jack Benz, Harry Carlton, Jim Perkinson, Terry Stephens, Gene Hughes, Frank Coulter, James Smith, Don Long and Trickett Honda employees. Active pallbearers are David Vaughn, Michael Allred, Bob Mullinix, Jerry Mullinix, Ron Page, Charles Joseph, Steve Willis, Todd Wilson and Thad McKellar.
Visitation will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 11 and from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 12 at Hendersonville First Baptist Church's Chapel. Funeral services will begin at the Chapel at 2 p.m. with Reverends Courtney Wilson and David Vaughn officiating. Interment will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 13 at Hendersonville Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hendersonville First Baptist Church's Building Fund, Alzheimer's Disease Research or Gideons' International.
