Robert Lewis
King Jr.
May 28, 1944 — Oct 13, 2026
Goodlettsville, TN
Robert Lewis King Jr. passed away at his home in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, on October 13, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on May 28, 1944, in Nashville, Tennessee, Robert lived a life defined by steady devotion to his work, deep love for his family, and a quiet strength that shaped those around him.
Robert retired from the United States Postal Service after more than 30 years of service. He was also a union member, and he carried himself with the reliability and commitment that marked both his working life and his personal one. He was known as a humble man, protective of those he loved, and a provider in every sense of the word. He had a quick wit and a natural sense of humor that brought laughter to others and made his company a gift.
Outside of work, Robert found joy in simple and lasting pleasures. He liked to play the guitar, and he was quite good at it, though he would never have said so himself. He especially enjoyed country music and the songs of Jimmie Rodgers. He also loved fishing at Old Hickory Lake and enjoyed reading nonfiction books. These interests reflected his thoughtful nature and his appreciation for both music and quiet pastimes.
Of all the things Robert valued in life, his family stood above everything else. He counted his family as his proudest accomplishment, and he worked hard to make sure his children never went without. That steady care, sacrifice, and devotion will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
Robert Lewis King Jr is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Anna “Doll” King, his son Robert L. King III, the mother of his children Evelyn Wilson - King, and his infant sister.
He is survived by his son Steven King and his partner Sheryl Bartlett, and his dear friend Dianne Lomax.
Robert will be remembered with love for the life he lived, the laughter he shared, and the dependable presence he gave to those around him. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
