Rena E. Casper, 85, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2019. Born January 19, 1934 in Huntsville, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late John Lebart Crabtree and Velma (Russell) Crabtree. Rena was also preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Marie Waddell and a son, Jeffrey Wade Waddell. Rena was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She had worked as a waitress for several years and later worked for more than 20 years as a nurses aid at Central State Hospital. She loved to travel and had been all over the United States and also travelled to Mexico. She liked thrift stores and also would go to yard sales to but and find things to later sell herself. She also enjoyed gardening, gambling and dancing. Her children remember her care for them and the fact that she would make clothing for them when they were young. She is survived by her four children, Judy Kieff, Brenda Jones, Clifton Deveral Waddell, and Michael Lynn Waddell and his wife Maria Brewer Waddell; her partner and companion, John Robert Holcomb; 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond Crabtree and Billy Crabtree; and her sister, Evelyn Green. Visitation will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Monday from 11 AM to 1 PM with a Celebration of Life Service held at 1 PM. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
