Raymond Dean Gates, a beloved member of Madison, TN, passed away on December 26, 2023, at the age of 62. He was born on December 23, 1961, in Clarksville, Tennessee to his loving mother, Connie Diane Sisk Gates and father, Ray Gates.
Raymond had a vibrant personality and was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He brought joy and laughter to everyone he met. His friends and family will remember him as a funny and kind-hearted individual.
After completing his education at Culinary School at Opryland, Raymond developed a passion for cooking. Cooking brought him immense joy and allowed him to showcase his creativity.
In addition to his culinary endeavors, Raymond had a few other passions in life. He was an avid football fan and could often be found cheering on his favorite team, the Texas Longhorns. He also enjoyed working on various projects around the house, using his skills to fix and improve things.
Prior to pursuing his culinary dreams, Raymond served in the United States Air Force with commendable dedication. His time in the military instilled in him values of discipline, bravery, and loyalty that he carried throughout his life. He also did carpentry while in the Air Force in North Little Rock, AR.
Raymond shared 28 beautiful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Mrs. Ellen Launius Gates. Their bond was a testament to their deep love and unwavering commitment.
Raymond will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his loving wife Ellen; his father Ray Gates; siblings Diane Gates, Felicia Maestas, Monte Gates; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
To honor Raymond's life and share stories, his family invites friends and loved ones to a Visitation on January 13, 2024, at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Goodlettsville. The Visitation will commence at 10:00 AM.
A Memorial Service will then follow the Visitation at 11:00 AM on the same day and at the same location. This service will be an opportunity for all who knew Raymond to come together, support one another, and celebrate his remarkable life.
The Cole & Garrett Funeral Home & Cremation Services, located at 127 N Main St in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, will host both events.
