Peter James Stickel, age 53 of Goodlettsville, passed away March 22, 2021. He was born in St. Louis Missouri on December 28, 1967 to James and Peggy Stickel, and lived most of his life in Sumner County. He is also survived by his wife, Beverly Stickel; sons, Mayson James Stickel and Clayton Lee Stickel, and their mother, Lisa Millman; sisters, Fran (Clif) Hutson, and Laura (Danny) Denning. Peter was a graduate of Beech High School class of 1986. He then attended Western Kentucky University where he graduated Class of 1991 with a BA in Criminal Justice and a minor in Psychology. He was the owner of SPI (Stickel Private Investigations), a private investigation firm in his early career.
Growing up, Peter loved the outdoors, which was a peaceful place for him. Hunting trips with his Dad, family camping and boating, and just being in nature were some of his most treasured times.
A devoted father, Peter was his boys soccer coach, baseball coach, Band Dad for Davidson Academy Bears and hockey Dad with Nashville Flyers. He loved spending time with his boys Mayson and Clayton on their boat, at the lake camping and what ever interests they decided to grow into. Family was important to Peter, even being an Uncle he took seriously and invested time. Being the youngest of 3 children himself, Peter worked to make sure the entire family was connected, usually centered around his parents as the gathering place.
Peter was first married to Lisa Mays and their love created two boys they raised together for 25 years. Later, Peter married Beverly Johnson Stickel. Their life together has been based in Goodlettsville and cut short by his tragic death only 3 years later.
A celebration of Life will be at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville Sunday March 28, 2021 at 3pm with visitation from 12 Noon until the time of service.
