White House

Pauline Elizabeth McClure, age 97 of White House, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2022 at White House Healthcare.

She was born Pauline Elizabeth Kirkpatrick on November 14, 1925, to the late Charlie and Carrie Kirkpatrick of Hendersonville, Tennessee. Pauline loved her family and friends who affectionately referred to her as Granny. She was a housewife and mother most of her life but also worked for a short time at Kroger, Cracker Barrel and Goodlettsville Post Office.  She was an avid walker and walked over 20,000 miles for which she received many milestone patches.  Her favorite place to walk was Moss Wright Park in Goodlettsville, Tennessee.  She was featured in newspaper articles multiple times documenting her walking journey.

Her husband Floyd was in Hendersonville on maneuvers for the Army when Pauline’s friend passed him her address.  He was deployed overseas before they could meet in person. They wrote to each other for a year before Floyd came home on leave.   They were married the day after he came home after having met in person for the first time the day before.  They had a short honeymoon before Floyd had to go back to war.  He returned a year later after being wounded in combat. She stood my his side as he recovered and they went on to have a long and happy 48 year marriage.

She enjoyed playing Bingo and Uno at White House Healthcare and using her Bingo Bucks to buy toothbrushes and candy.  She loved going out to eat with her family for some good catfish, BBQ, white beans and corn nuggets.  Often, she asked to stop on the way home for some ice cream, her favorite dessert.

She loved to be outside working in the yard or mowing the grass. She was very proud of her neat and tidy house and loved to organize her things.

She accepted the Lord in 1952 and was a member of Metro Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Pauline is preceded in death by her husband Floyd Edward McClure, son Ronald Edward McClure and daughter, Patricia Ann Fuller.

She is survived by her sons, Terry Lee McClure and Bruce Allen McClure (Wendy); Five grandchildren, Amy Fincher (Anderson), Neil McClure (Wendy), Allen Fuller (Kelly), Michelle Fuller and Leah Blackmore.  She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren, Clint Fincher, Sam Fincher, Jake McClure, Emma McClure, Braydon Blackmore and Madelyn Fincher.  She is also survived by long time close family friend, Janet Jones.

A life Celebration will be held on Monday, December 19th at 12:00pm at Cole and Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville with Jim Ryan officiating.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Goodlettsville.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 18th at Cole and Garrett Funeral Home from 1:00 – 4:00pm.
