Nancy Sue Pruitt Adams

July 15, 1933 — September 21, 2025

Nancy Sue Pruitt Adams was born on July 15, 1933, in Louisville, KY. She is preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Joe Douglas Adams, mother Rosa May Pruitt, father Byron Taylor Pruitt, sister Elnora Craig, brother Earl Pruitt, sister Martha Wheatley, and brother James Pruitt.

She is survived by daughters Debbie (Mike) Caldwell of Goodlettsville, TN, Kathy Adams of Goodlettsville, TN, Bonnie (Ricky) Westray of Warner Robins, GA, and Nancy Jo (Steven) Thompson of Shelbyville, TN. Grandchildren Nathan (Jenni) Westray and Audrey Westray of Warner Robins, GA, and Jake and Seth Thompson of Shelbyville, TN. Two great-grandchildren Liam and Lukas Westray of Warner Robins, GA.

Nancy was a member of Connell Memorial United Methodist Church in Goodlettsville and attended the Builders Sunday School Class. She volunteered in many areas of the church including singing in the choir, organizing fellowship dinners, Meals on Wheels, and was a co-founder of the Mother’s Day Out program. She was a Girl Scout leader for several years, a Girl Scout Council Committee member and a PTO school volunteer.

She enjoyed traveling both in the states and abroad with her husband, including two trips to Europe and visiting all 50 States. Church retreats to Beersheba Springs, numerous hikes up Mt. LeConte in the Great Smoky Mountains, and walks on sandy beaches were some of her favorite adventures. She took several trips with a small group of her best friends and always came back sharing funny stories and memories from their adventures. However, her favorite times were yearly mountain cabin stays with her friends and family over many years.

Nancy loved playing Scrabble, doing daily crossword puzzles, reading recipe books and playing the piano by ear. She was a faithful wife and a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She never complained, never had a cross word with anyone, always had a quick smile and did everything with a Christian attitude and a servant’s heart.
