Martha Tillman Durham, age 98, passed away November 11, 2020. Born June 2, 1922 to her parents the late Jim and Mary Harrison Tillman in Nashville, TN. When she was 8 months old, the family moved to Gallatin, TN. In 1944, she met her husband, Hillard "H.O" Durham at a tent revival on Winchester Street. On March 2, 1946, they were married in Rossville, Georgia. In 1948, they bought a farm on Drakes Creek Road in Hendersonville, TN and they lived there until his passing on September 27, 2007. Following his death, Martha moved to Hartsville and resided there until her death.
In 1938 at the age of 16, Martha was baptized at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Gallatin, TN and continued to love the Lord for the rest of her life. She was also a founding member of West Main Baptist Church in Gallatin, TN and Hendersonville Missionary Baptist Church in Hendersonville, TN.
Martha T. Durham is survived by one son, Alton Durham of Hartsville, TN, and two grandsons, Cass Durham (Lindsay) of Gallatin, TN and Clint Durham of Hartsville, TN. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville Saturday November 14 from 9:30 am until the service at 11:30 am. Pallbearers will be Cass Durham, Clint Durham, Chuck Creekmore, Darrell Durham, Brent Lackey, and Dayrel Kemper.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
