Mable Brown

April 14, 1941 — March 16, 2024

Goodlettsville

Mable J. Brown, 82, of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, passed away at her home on Saturday, March 16, 2024.   Born April 14, 1941, in Old Hickory, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late J.S. “Sparky” McConnell and Mable Derryberry McConnell.

Mable was a member of Goodlettsville Church of Christ.  She graduated from Hendersonville High School in the graduating class of 1959.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and grandmother who will be missed dearly.   Her family will remember her always tending to her flowers, traveling with her husband David and family, and the wonderful meals she cooked.  Mable always wanted to make sure her family and friends were never hungry.  Between her home, her church, her school, and her community, Mable fed thousands.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings James McConnell, Helen Page, Dot Frost, Roy McConnell, Tony McConnell, and George McConnell.

She is survived by her loving husband of almost 65 years, David Brown; daughter Gwen (David) Wilkinson; son Jimmy Brown; grandchildren Kati (Brian) Barbeau, Ryan (Rachel) Brown, Betsy (Will) Morris, and Tyler (Chantal) Brown; great grandchildren Camden Brown, Zyan Morris, Ruby Barbeau, Tavion Morris, Hazel Barbeau, Maci Brown, Arayah Morris, Quentin Morris, Walker Brown and Julian Brown on the way; siblings Everwill Swafford, Charlie McConnell, Betty (Melvin) Kirkham, and Alta (Tommy) Lanius.

Visitation will be Monday, March 18, from 4pm until 8pm at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville.  Visitation will continue Tuesday morning from 10am until 12pm noon.  A Celebration of Mable’s life will be held at 12pm noon.   Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Goodlettsville.

Mable’s family would like to extend a special ‘thank you’ to Veranda; to Highpoint Hospice for the care they provided to her; to the McConnells for their love and support; and to Mary Jane Roberts, Jacque Parkinson, Sarah Andrews, Ann Ford, and Bobby & Shirley Hymer for their frequent visits.  They would also like to thank her caregivers Terri Merritt and Julie Wimberly for their love, patience, and care for Mable.
