Kenneth Paul Hoppes, a loving father, brother and grandfather, passed away on February 4, 2024. Born on January 4, 1945, in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of the late Paul Hoppes and Eula Elizabeth Hollifield Hoppes.

Kenneth graduated from Harris High School in Spruce Pine, North Carolina in 1963.  In 1965, Kenneth began his military service as he proudly joined the United States Navy. He served aboard the USS Forrest Sherman with honor and distinction. His commitment to his country and fellow servicemen reflected his unwavering patriotism.

Outside of his military duties, Kenneth had a variety of hobbies and interests that brought him immense joy. One of his greatest passions was dressing up and participating in pre-revolutionary time period reenactments and educating people about our nation's history. He found fulfillment in immersing himself in historical events and bringing them to life for others. His dedication was evident through his involvement at Historic Rock Castle where he helped encourage more reenactors to participate.

Kenneth also cherished spending time outdoors pursuing activities such as deer and turkey hunting. Nature served as both a sanctuary and an arena for creating lasting memories. Fishing was another pastime that allowed him to relax and appreciate the beauty of the natural world.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Madison.  He loved his church family there and credited them with strengthening his faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Hoppes; son David Tinnon; brother Joey Hoppes.

Kenneth is survived by his children Sean (Stephanie) Hoppes, Daniel (Jamie Lee) Tinnon, and Elizabeth Tinnon; sister Paula Duncan; brother Gene Hoppes; grandchildren Connor Hoppes, Hayden Hoppes, M.J. Tinnon, and Carter Tinnon.
