Obituary

June Carolyn (Sprouse) Johnson was born in Hendersonville, TN, on June 12, 1936, to the late Bertie Garrett Sprouse and Clyde Thomas Sprouse. Preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Joe Richard Johnson; infant granddaughter, Hannah Grace Johnson; sisters, Joyce Simpkins and Sue Potts of Murfreesboro, and infant niece, Susan Potts. Survived by sons, Todd Richard (Beverly) and Scott Alan (Karen), and loving grandsons, Cooper and Bryce, and loving granddaughter, Tanner; sister, Anita Horton of Springfield, and brother, Tommy Sprouse of Hendersonville, and several nieces and nephews.

Carolyn graduated from Goodlettsville High School in 1955, where she served as co-captain of the basketball team. She later attended Draughon’s Business College and Nashville State Technical Institute.

Carolyn loved water skiing, boating, walking, hiking, camping, softball, and basketball, where she played for many years in both church leagues and senior women’s leagues. She was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Professionally, Carolyn worked as a secretary at United Shoe Machinery and later as an accounting clerk at Kroger’s Regional Accounting Office for 22 years.

Carolyn was a member of Long Hollow Baptist Church.

Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, August 13th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted in the Chapel of Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, 127 N. Main Street, Goodlettsville, TN 37072. Burial will follow at Beech Historic Cemetery, 3216 Long Hollow Pike, Hendersonville, TN 37075.
