Juanita Ralph Hawkins was born on September 27, 1920 at Vertical Plains on Long Hollow Pike, Sumner County Tennessee to the late Luther David Ralph and Hester Martin Ralph. She passed away peacefully after a brief illness on November 17, 2017 at the Alive Hospice, Madison
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Tom Gilliam Hawkins; sisters Edith Carleen Ralph; Mary Onezima Bradley; Evelyne Lucille Harmon.
Mrs. Hawkins is survived by her daughter Annelle Ralph (Joseph) Huggins of Memphis, TN: grandsons, Michael Todd (Amy) Huggins of Bella Vista, AR and Ronald Patrick (Valerie) Huggins of Memphis, TN; brothers L.D. (Bettie Ruth) Ralph, James T. (Wei) Ralph, and Wallace D. (Jackie) Ralph all of Goodlettsville, TN; sisters Mina O. Smith of Madison, TN and Deba (Tommy) Gammons of Gallatin, TN; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She and her husband were 30 year-residents of Edmond, Oklahoma where she served on the Board of the Edmond Public Library and was active in the League of Women Voters, the Oklahoma City Audubon Society, the Faculty Wives of Central State University, and the Women's Missionary Union of the First Baptist Church of Edmond. Upon return to Tennessee during their retirement years, she attended the First Baptist Church of Goodlettsville and was an active participant in her Sunday School class. She enjoyed hikes with her extended family in the Great Smoky Mountains, and was a devoted caregiver during her husband's final years.
The family expresses deep appreciation to the caring and compassionate staff of Alive Hospice, Madison and to her niece Susan Ralph Smith for her loving companionship and support which allowed Mrs. Hawkins to maintain her independence through her 97th birthday.
The service, which will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville on Monday November 20, 2017 at 1pm with visitation from 11 am until service time, and will be officiated by Dr. Steve Boyd. Pallbearers will be Ronald P. Huggins, Michael T. Huggins, Pete Smith, Sanders Gammons, Raylin Ralph, John Bradley.
Burial will follow at Old Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Shackle Island, TN.
