Mr. John William Decker, Sr.; age 89; of White House passed away on July 1, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 5, 1933 in Taylor, MI to the late Frank and Doreen Decker. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Ann Decker; sister Janet Peborski; and brother, Doug Decker.
John was a member of The Church at Grace Park in White House where he spent time volunteering and greeting children coming to preschool. He was a baseball coach in and around White House and Goodlettsville. He also spent time as a Sumner County Commissioner and as Alderman and Mayor of White House. He was a proud member of the Air Force and served as a helicopter crew chief for 4 years. He graduated from George Peabody College in 1963 with degree's in Chemistry and Biology. He taught at Madison HS for a year before getting a pharmaceutical sales job. He got into the car business in the late 1960's until he retired. He was a devoted husband, father, and DeDa to his family.
John is survived by his sons, John (Kathy) Decker, Jr.; Jeff (Lisa) Decker; grandchildren, Ally (Austin) Short, McCall, Grayce and Kathryn; brother, Jim Decker; and many nieces and nephews.
