Joe Douglas Adams was born on January 3, 1933. Preceded in death by his father Alvra Daniel Adams, mother Beulah Kilzer Adams, brother Bill Adams, brother James Adams and sister Betty Adams.

Survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Nancy Pruitt Adams, daughters Debbie (Mike) Caldwell of Goodlettsville, TN, Kathy Adams of Goodlettsville, TN, Bonnie (Ricky) Westray of Warner Robins, GA and Nancy Jo (Steven) Thompson of Shelbyville, TN. Grandchildren Nathan (Jenni) Westray of Warner Robins, GA, Audrey Westray of Warner Robins, GA, Jake Thompson and Seth Thompson of Shelbyville, TN and great-grandchildren Liam and Lukas Westray of Warner Robins, GA.

Joe was born in West Tennessee and lived in Humboldt, TN, Louisville, KY and later moved his family to Madison, TN and finally Hendersonville, TN. He started his career as a salesman for Shedd-Bartush Foods. He was founder and owner of Trade Fair Food Markets. He later became a real estate broker and appraiser and owned Thomson-Adams Realtors in Goodlettsville. In 1990, he was named Realtor of the Year by the Nashville Board of Realtors. He then served in 1992 as the President of the TN Board of Realtors.

He was a faithful member of Connell Memorial United Methodist Church in Goodlettsville, TN and the Builders Sunday School Class. He started the General Assembly at the church, the Great American 4th of July cookouts and was financial chairman for a major building program at the church. He also was the Sunday School superintendent there for several years.

Joe loved golf and had several holes in one. He loved reading books, especially about American History and various biographies and he loved traveling both in the United States and abroad. One of his favorite trips was a yearly cabin stay in Townsend, TN with his children and grandchildren. He loved nothing more than having his whole family together. He was a devoted husband, a loving and providing father, grandfather and great-grandfather and a wonderful friend of many.

Services will be provided by Cole and Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville, TN and the service will be held at Connell Memorial United Methodist Church in Goodlettsville, TN, on Friday, September 12th, Visitation from 11-1, service at 1. Burial to follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Madison, TN.
