James Andrew Eddings, affectionately known as Andy, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Born on July 24, 1983, in Nashville, Tennessee, Andy lived a life marked by kindness, care, and unwavering dedication to protecting others. He will be remembered not only for his generous spirit but also for his deep commitment to serving his community.
Andy is preceded in death by his father James Michael Eddings, grandfather James Franklin Eddings, grandmother Lucy Shuffield, and his bonus nanny Sue Burgett. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years Holly Eddings, his children: Dakota Fernandes, Kayla (Corrie) Green, and Deagun Kizer, grandchildren: Georgia Ann, Corrie, and Oakley Ann. Andy is also survived by his mother and stepfather Genevieve and Larry Lawhorn, grandmother Sue Eddings, brothers Charles Lawhorn and Jonathan Lawhorn, uncle John (Hope) Eddings, uncle Robert King, aunt Charlene (Mark) Taylor, and aunt Tina Shuffield, as well as numerous cousins and several nieces and nephews. From a young age, Andy’s true passion was clear: his unwavering dream to serve as a firefighter. His proudest accomplishments were realized through his role as a paramedic and as a dedicated volunteer firefighter in Cross Plains, TN. Serving in the fire department was more than just a profession to Andy; it was a calling he held dearly throughout his life. His enthusiasm for this work was evident to all who knew him, from his eager participation in parades—where he was known to proudly drive the firetruck in the Christmas parade—to his daily acts of service.
Andy was a man of gentle strength, known for his helpful nature and caring demeanor. Those close to him cherished his protective instincts and the loving support he consistently offered. Outside of his service to others, he found joy and solace in the peaceful pastimes of fishing and hunting, pursuits that reflected his respect for nature and quiet moments of reflection.
Andy’s fondest memories often revolved around his adventures traveling with his grandparents. These journeys were extraordinary, allowing him to visit all 50 states of the United States as well as parts of Canada, experiences that enriched his view of the world and left lasting impressions on his heart. His greatest accomplishment of all would be his family. He loved them to no end, and his love will forever be carried by the ones who he held closest.
