HENRY PRESTON ABBOTT Jr. - Age 86 of Madison - December 13, 2010 - Preceded in death by parents, Nufie Allen Abbott and Henry P. Abbott, Sr. and by grandson Russell A. Abbott. Survived by wife of 64 years, Elizabeth M. Abbott; brother, Robert F. (Blanche) Abbott, Jonesboro, Arkansas; children Anne A. Tanner, Henry J. 'Hank' (Rita) Abbott, David C. (Karen) Abbott; grandchildren Guy Joseph (Michele) Abbott, Mark (Jeannie) Swor, Amy A. (Matt) Lowe, Emily Abbott, Katherine Abbott and by 7 great grandchildren. Henry was a 1941 graduate of East High School and attended Vanderbilt University and the University of Tennessee. He was a U.S Army veteran and was a Registered Professional Engineer while working in several capacities at Ferro Corp. / Reichold Chemicals / GAF Corp. for 37 years. Henry taught Sunday School classes for 40 years and was a member of Goodlettsville First Baptist for 42 years. He was a loving and devoted husband and a wonderful father and will be greatly missed by family and friends. Special thanks to the dedicated staff of Alive Hospice at St. Thomas Hospital. A celebration of Henry's life will be held at Goodlettsville First Baptist Church at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 17, 2010, with visitation at the church beginning at noon. Officiating at the memorial service will be grandson-in-law, Matt Lowe. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Goodlettsville First Baptist Church Building Fund.
