Gil Sanes went to his eternal rest Saturday October 13, 2018. Visitation with family will be at Connell Memorial Methodist Church, Goodlettsville Sunday, October 21 from 3 til 5, and Monday, October 22 from 2-3 with a celebration of Gil's life from 3-4.

Born October 1, 1944, he was the oldest of three children and grew up in Pittsburgh, PA. He attended Shadyside Academy, Cornell University and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Medical School in 1968, later completing an MBA at Belmont University.

At Pitt he met and married his partner forever, Flora Ricci, a Pitt nursing student. After graduation Gil completed an OB/GYN internship and residency in the U.S. Army at Letterman Army Hospital in San Francisco. In 1974 Gil & Flora settled in Goodlettsville, TN. Gil practiced OB/GYN in Hendersonville until 1995 when he retired from active practice to take positions in medical management.

He loved life and relished new experiences and challenges: Silversmithing, gardening , and woodworking to name a few. He listened to blues and opera with equal pleasure and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Cruise vacations were a favorite pastime.

Gil loved his family dearly and his sons and grandchildren were the light of his life. One of his great pleasures was fixing grandchildren's broken toys. He was devoted to his patients and treasured his friends. He was a teacher and mentor to many.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 48 years, Flora, sons Joseph (Stephanie) and Jeffrey (Rachel), grandchildren Collin and Harper, sisters Jody Penland and Ellen (Gary) Kinsler , his nieces and nephews and brothers-in-law Joe (Patty) and Mark Ricci.

The family (and Gil) asks that instead of flowers you consider a contribution to a worthy charity or the Connell Memorial UMC building fund.
