Gerald D. Metcalf, a talented musician, songwriter, and entrepreneur, passed away on June 29, 2025, in Nashville, TN, at the age of 81. Born on May 16, 1944, in Big Rapids, MI, Gerald lived a life marked by creativity, passion, and a strong spirit.

From early in his life, Gerald embraced music, using it as a canvas for his thoughts and emotions. He dedicated himself to his craft as a musician and songwriter, a pursuit that brought joy not only to himself but also to those around him. His artistic talents extended beyond music; later in his career, he founded a mobile leather and vinyl repair business which showcased his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. In addition to his business ventures, Gerald explored his creative side by designing and crafting knives and walking canes, further reflecting his artistic flair. Aside from his strong work ethic, he also was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time outdoors.

Gerald's personality was a vibrant tapestry of strength and humor; he was strong-willed and personable, often lightening the mood with his witty sense of humor. His playful, goofy side endeared him to family and friends, making him a beloved figure in their lives.

Gerald honorably served in the United States Marines for three years during the Vietnam War.

He joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in July 1975 and served in various leadership positions over the years. He was a man of strong faith and shared that through his service to others and music by occasionally singing hymns for the congregation.

Gerald is survived by his children, Michele Denise Jones (Chris), Yvonne Lee Burnett (Reggie), Joshua Jeremy Metcalf, Adam Douglass Metcalf (Devrie), and Janie-Marie Claire Sapon (David), who carry forward his legacy. He is also cherished by his fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of whom will remember him fondly. Gerald is further survived by his siblings, Bonnie Eastmen and Dewey Metcalf, Jr.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Lee Metcalf, his son, Christopher Gerald Metcalf, his parents, Dewey Edward Metcalf, Sr. And Marion Marie Metcalf; and brother, Allen Ray Metcalf.
