Florence Page

Resided in Nashville, Tennessee

Florence Rita Chabot Page, age 97, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on All Saints' Day, November 1, 2015, in the loving embrace of her immediate family and a host of extraordinarily kind and compassionate caregivers at Brookdale Belle Meade. She was a faithful and joyful friend who always put the needs and concerns of others before her own. She loved and excelled at the art of cooking, sewing, gardening and homemaking, and on selected Saturdays could be described as a "rabid" Vols fan.

Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Benjamin Grant Page, she is survived by their three children, Bonnie Page Hoopengardner (Roger), of Williamsburg, VA, Benjamin G. Page, Jr. (Libby) and Deborah Page Evans (Michael), both of Nashville. She is also survived by her sister, Bernadette Chabot McCague of Daytona Beach, FL; sister-in-law, Lassie Page; grandchildren, Andrew Hoopengardner (Merrill), Sara Henry (JP), Anna Lyn Copeland (Michael), Florence Page, Lauren Johnson (Robby), Benjamin McMurtry; great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Claire Hoopengardner, Page and Jackson Henry, Tucker and Evan Copeland, Grant, Max and Austin Johnson and many nieces and nephews.

Born in Whitefield, NH, in 1918 to deeply proud French Canadian parents, Georgianna and Ludger Chabot, Florence was the eleventh of thirteen children. She lettered in basketball on the 1933-35 Whitefield High School championship team. Forever proud of her New England roots, she evolved into a true Southern lady graciously hosting book clubs, garden clubs and bridge groups, volunteering with PTAs and hospitals and making a most memorable coconut cake at Christmastime and for Ben's birthdays.

A service to celebrate Florence's life will be held on Sunday, November 8th at 3 p.m. at Christ Church Cathedral, 900 Broadway. Visitation with the family and a celebration of her blessed life will be immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Florence and Ben Page Gardens at Christ Church Cathedral or Alive Hospice.
