Eunice O. Goforth, 96, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017. Born January 1, 1921 in Portland, TN, she was the daughter of the late William Britton and Frona (West) Crouch. Eunice was also preceded in death by her husband, Dumont Lester Goforth; her granddaughter, Dana Stribling; and her brothers, Jack and Ewing Crouch. Eunice graduated from Portland High School in 1940 and went on to attend business college. Eunice worked as a secretary employed by Lentz Public Health Center for 35 years. During the early years of her marriage, Eunice moved several times while following her late husband's Army career. They lived in Georgia, Chattanooga, TN, Knoxville, TN, and Pennsylvania until he retired and the initially settled in Madison, later moved to Goodlettsville and finally to Hendersonville. Recently, Eunice moved in with her daughter in Hendersonville. She was a member of the Goodlettsville Church of Christ since 1968 and was an extremely faithful and active member. She was known for her efforts in teaching World Bible School, which she did for 12 years, and she continued to correspond with people around the world. She was a strong and devoted mother, and a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Charlotte (Ralph) Walker and Janet (Larry) Light; her grandchildren, Alan Light, Angela Woods and Brian Garrett; and her great-grandchildren, Megan Gentry, Dylan Gentry, Nathan Gentry, Alyssa Woods, Sydney Garrett, Braden Garrett, Sadie Garrett, Tyler Stribling and Aaron Stribling. The funeral will be held Saturday, October 7th at 1 PM at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday from 4 - 8 PM and Saturday from 11 AM - 1 PM. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
