Donald Ray White, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather passed away on January 16, 2026, at Alive Hospice of Nashville. Born on November 15, 1939, in Nashville, Tennessee, Donald’s journey through life was one marked by love, dedication, and a passion for craftsmanship.
Donald embarked on a career that began with an apprenticeship at a local printing company. Through hard work and determination, he rose to become a skilled photo engraver and ultimately a salesman for KONICA. His professional life spanned many years, and he continued to serve with dedication until his retirement in 2005. Those who crossed paths with him in the industry will remember not just his expertise but the warmth of his engaging personality, a blend of laid-back charm and spirited conversation.
Beyond his career, Donald was a man of many interests. He possessed a profound appreciation for history. In his later years, he found joy in watching films and television, particularly Westerns featuring the legendary John Wayne. His enthusiasm for mowing left him to spend ample time with his tractor.
Donald’s heart swelled with pride for his family, whom he loved dearly. He often spoke of his wife with admiration, expressing his gratitude for her. His love for his daughters and family was like no other, and he often considered his family his greatest accomplishment.
He served honorably in the United States Air National Guard for six years, contributing to the freedom and safety of his fellow citizens. As a conversationalist, he engaged many with his opinions and insights, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to engage with him. He was a man of Christian faith, leading him to become a greeter at the Long Hollow Church for over 20 years, always making strangers feel at home with a smile and a welcoming laugh.
Donald Ray is preceded in death by his parents Oscar Henry and Johnnie Mae White, sister Patricia Patterson and his grandson Matthew Parker Milliken. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years Florence “Flo” White, his daughters Marti Milliken, and Cindy Starr. He is also survived by his niece Jill (Steven) Brown and their children Hannah and Hadley, and his grandchildren Jordan (Quincey) Milliken, Derek Starr, Kristen (Josiah) Vega, Katie Starr, and great grandchildren West Milliken and Stella Milliken. Additionally, he will be deeply missed and cherished by his Crossville Family who loved him dearly.
To honor Donald's memory, friends and family are invited to gather for visitation on January 23, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Goodlettsville, TN.
