Debbie Beard

Debra Beard (Debbie) passed away at her home in Portland on Thursday morning, September 18th, at the age of 70.

Debbie is survived by her husband, Jimmy Beard; daughter, Melissa McCue of Murfreesboro and grandchildren Aubrie (18) and Peyton (16); son Steven and wife Sarah Everett and grandchildren Mason (17) and Grey (7); son, Gregory and wife Stephanie Everett of Knoxville and grandchildren Caroline (9), Olivia (7), and Wade (3); her brother, Don Galimore and wife Kathy.

She was born to Orell and Catheryn Galimore on November 15, 1954. They preceded her in death as did her sister, Connie Gibson.

Debbie was an accomplished nurse, working in emergency medicine, critical care and specialty care units in hospitals in Georgia and Tennessee. She loved helping others and especially those most challenged by critical medical conditions.

She attended Forest Park High School and received her nursing degree from Clayton State University. She received advanced certifications in a number of critical care, cardiac care, and neonatal care areas.

Debbie enjoyed talking about sports, current events and politics. She had a sharp wit and sense of humor. She was suspected of having a slight tendency to be stubborn. She loved dogs and talking about her dogs to anyone who would listen.

Her health begin to decline at a relatively early age and she fought chronic illness for many years- always with spirity and determination.

Visitation will be help from 12-2pm on Monday, September 22nd at Cole and Garrett Funeral Home in White House. A celebration of life will be held at 2pm following the visitation.
