Obituary

Brenda Pitzer Miller, age 76, passed away on May 20th, 2026. She was born on January 12, 1950 in Madison Tennessee. She quickly returned to her home in West Virginia where her father, Reverend George Pitzer, was the pastor at a Nazarene church with her mother, Irene (Sutton) Pitzer. Brenda spent the first 13 years of her life in several parsonages in West Virginia and always considered herself a true and faithful West Virginia Mountaineer. She cherished the memories of the good people of West Virginia and the churches her dad served. Her family then moved back to Madison, Tennessee in 1963.

Brenda had three wonderful children: Kenneth A. Heath (Leigh), Michelle Heath Loveland (Kenny) and Jerremy Miller (Mandy). Brenda and her husband of 53 years James, were blessed with grandchildren. Kaitlyn, Andrew, Eli, Ava, Skyler, and Maddox supplied Brenda a steady dose of happiness over the last 30 plus years. Brenda also became a great grandmother to Landon and Anna. Being a grandma and a great grandma was one of the best parts of her life.

Brenda loved her work. She worked in the billing section for healthcare providers for over 25 years. Contributing to getting things done was important to her. Despite years of health challenges that would have retired some people, Brenda was devoted to her job and was proud of being a part of something good.

After retiring in 2012, she focused on a vegetable garden for a few years. She always said it was mostly for the rabbits, deer and groundhogs to stay healthy, and she grew tired of feeding them. Her primary focus was her rose bushes and the flower gardens. No matter how hot it was she was out there for hours nearly every day for the spring and summer months. She always enjoyed going back to West Virginia and Virginia to visit her brother-in-law, Jerry Miller (Diane) and family as often as her health allowed.

She is survived by 3 great brothers. David Pitzer (Teresa), Paul Pitzer (Dottie) and Tim Pitzer (JoAnn) were all a significant part of her life and she loved them all. Fortunately, James, and all her children and grandchildren are still here to carry her story on and to share her with those yet to be born. She was a perfect mentor for how to overcome or deal with life's challenges. She made her place in our hearts forever. Her love, goodness, grit and faith never faded and made our lives what they are.

Cole & Garrett Funeral Home are to oversee the arrangements for Mrs. Brenda Pitzer Miller. A private family service will be held.
