Bobby Joe Huffines, lovingly known as Robert, passed away on May 21, 2026. Born on June 15, 1941, in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, to the late Fred and Lucille Huffines. He would grow up in the Franklin, Kentucky area and would go on to live a life marked by a deep dedication to his family, his craft, and his passions, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, intelligence, and steadfastness.
Robert dedicated his professional life to the construction of residential homes as a contractor. His hands, skilled and steady, built more than houses—they helped create homes for countless families. Beyond his career, he was a man who found great joy and purpose in working with cars, particularly old cars and hot rods. He self-taught himself mechanics, painting, and bodywork. He was proud of his ability to fix and build cars from the ground up. His passion extended beyond the workshop; he loved attending car shows, immersing himself in the vibrant culture of automotive enthusiasts. When unable to attend in person, he found satisfaction in watching car shows on television, never letting distance dim his love for this hobby.
Among those who knew him best, Bobby Joe Huffines is remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a good man—kind-hearted and intelligent—who stood up for himself and others with quiet strength and integrity. His remarkable character and unwavering support enriched the lives of his family and friends alike.
Robert preceded in death by his parents, his wife Cathy Huffines, and sisters Mary Hethcoat and Beverly Sloan, and nephew Shannon Hethcoat. He is survived by his daughter Wendy (Cary) Swift, granddaughter Brittany (Darion) Ahonen, grandson Austin Swift, and his great grandchildren: Kaydence Swift, Vera Swift, Delaney Swift, and soon to be born Jaxon Ahonen. He is also survived by his nephew Chris Deweese, niece Krystal Carton, and his partner Carolyn Rowland.
Pallbearers are to include: Tim Forrester, Junior Oden, Adam Oden, Dawson Oden, Devin Underwood, and Jospeh Carton.
Family, friends, and all who admired him are invited to honor his memory with a visitation on May 28, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The visitation will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home and Cremation Services in White House, Tennessee, located at 212 Highway 76. Subsequently, a burial service will take place at White House Memorial Gardens, located at 3639 US-31W, White House, Tennessee, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
Bobby Joe Huffines’s life was one of quiet dignity and powerful devotion—to his craftsmanship, his family, and the simple joys of life. He leaves behind memories that will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy endures not only in the homes he helped build and the cars he so lovingly restored but in the kindness and strength he embodied throughout his life.
