Betty Marie Norman Simon, known to many as Nana, of Hendersonville passed away at the age of 81 on January 28th, 2020. Betty was born on September 19, 1938 to the late Atlas and Kathleen Holmes Norman of Orlinda, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by sisters Marjorie Norman, Dorothy Norman, Martha Norman and brother Harold Norman. She is survived by her husband Joseph Simon of 57 years, her daughters Jana (Sean) Brooks and Jill (Mark) Jenkins. Grandsons Devin Harper, Matthew Brooks, Jarrett Brooks, Brennan Harper and Ben Brooks. Brother Bill (Carolyn) Norman. Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and avid sports fan, especially the Titans. In her younger years she was a very talented athlete, playing basketball for East Robertson High School. For many years until the young age of 61, she enjoyed playing softball for their church home, First Baptist Goodlettsville along-side her daughters. She also coached basketball and softball, where she taught many young girls her love for those games. Betty had a very competitive side and loved winning at aggravation, rook or any game she played. She loved spending time at the beach, reading Danielle Steele novels, cooking and knitting dishrags for family and friends. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family and spoiling her grandsons. There was never a prouder Nana. Funeral services will be held at Cole and Garrett Funeral Home, 127 N. Main Street, Goodlettsville, TN on Saturday, February 1st at 12 noon with a grave side service to be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Orlinda, Tennessee at approximately 2 PM. Visitation at the funeral home will be held Friday, January 31st. from 4 to 8 PM and again on Saturday, February 1st. from 10 AM to Noon. Acting as pallbearers will be, Devin Harper, Matthew Brooks, Jarrett Brooks, Brennan Harper, Ben Brooks, Mark Norman, and Todd Norman. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the American Kidney Fund www.kidneyfund.org to help others suffering from kidney failure to find transplant donors.
