Betty Jo Hartman

March 2, 1945 — August 15, 2025

Betty Jo Hartman, affectionately known as Jo, embarked on her final journey on August 15, 2025, in the vibrant warmth of Florida, leaving behind a legacy of adventure and laughter that will echo in the hearts of all who knew her. Born on March 2, 1945, in Goodlettsville, TN, she embraced life with an open heart, carving a path brimming with joy.

Jo is survived by loving husband of 51 years Glenn K. Hartman, her children Tammy (Scott) Nagel, Mike (Anita) Kerr, and Susan (Tommy) Stilwell. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ashley Lindeman, Dustin Scott, Mandlyn Kerr, Kaidyn Buxton, Devyn Kerr, Bailey Stilwell, and Briley Stilwell, and her great grandchildren Parker Lindeman, Tucker Lindeman, Sadie Lindeman, Peityn Bradford, Myrtn Skiner, and Emberlyn Buxton. Jo also leaves behind her siblings Cassie Birdwell, Maudie Hester, and James Paul. Although she is gone, her memory will forever reside within them.

Jo’s personality always shone brightly, characterized by her kindness and warmth, always making others feel welcome and at ease. With a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh, she had a unique ability to transform ordinary moments into cherished memories. She was a woman of boundless spirit. Outgoing and adventurous, she approached each day as a new opportunity to create lasting memories. She was called a world traveler and her passion for travel was a highlight of her life. She particularly enjoyed countless cruises with her beloved husband, Glenn. With the sea as her backdrop, she discovered the world, relishing in the beauty of new horizons. In sharing her love for travel, she inspired her daughter to experience the joy of cruising, creating a bond strengthened by exhilarating adventures on the open water.

For more than 30 years, Jo was a proud member of the Chapter K Golden Wings Touring Association. Riding motorcycles wasn’t just a pastime for her; it was a means of liberation, a way to escape the mundane realities of life, and to connect with the vast canvas of the United States. Each ride was a testament to her adventurous spirit and desire for exploration as she embraced the wind and the open road with infectious enthusiasm. At home, Jo found solace in reading, with People Magazine often gracing her coffee table, a reflection of her innate curiosity about the lives of others and the world beyond.

Jo's battle with dementia was a long and arduous journey, but it did not dim her vibrant spirit or the love she showered upon her family and friends. Now, as we gather to celebrate her life, we remember the joy she brought to others and the indelible mark she left on those fortunate enough to share in her adventures.

A memorial gathering will be held in her honor on September 13, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM, all taking place at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home and Cremation Services in White House, TN. As we bid farewell to our beloved Jo, let us continue to carry her adventurous spirit within us, cherishing the laughter and love she so freely shared.
