Barbara N. Taylor, a beloved member of the community, passed away on August 24, 2023, leaving behind cherished memories and a lasting impact. Born on September 7, 1937, in Nashville, TN, Barbara's life was a testament to love, compassion, and dedication.
Barbara dedicated herself to education and spent 15 years teaching for Sumner County Schools and Vol State Community College. Her passion for nurturing young minds extended beyond the classroom as she drove a school bus for Sumner County for 12 years. Barbara touched the lives of countless students and left an indelible mark on their educational journey.
While her professional life was filled with meaningful work, Barbara's greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren. She treasured lunch dates with them and created lasting memories that they will hold dear forever. Known affectionately as Grandmother and Maw, Barbara's love for her grandkids knew no bounds.
In her spare time, Barbara pursued her hobbies and interests with great enthusiasm. She had a passion for reading mystery books and solving crossword puzzles. These activities allowed her to immerse herself in stories and challenges that captivated her imagination.
Animals held a special place in Barbara's heart. Her love for them knew no bounds, showcasing her compassionate nature towards all living creatures. Whether it was caring for her pets or advocating for animal welfare causes, she demonstrated kindness and empathy throughout her life.
Barbara is survived by her son Steven Taylor and daughter Karen Armstrong (Jack). She leaves behind cherished grandchildren Lauren Heithaus (Tim), Brad Taylor (Amy), Katelyn Barrett (Michael), Anna Murphy (Lane), and Alyssa Armstrong (Jared James). Her great-grandchildren Robert, Henry, Ean, Kaleigh, Kayson, Stella, Kai, Forrest, and Jack Owen brought immense joy to her life.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Norman F. Taylor, her mother Lois Nabors Breedlove, her stepfather Oscar Breedlove, and her sister Madeline Beasley.
Barbara's memory will forever be cherished by her surviving family and friends.
To honor her life and pay tribute to the remarkable person she was, visitation services will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Goodlettsville, TN, on August 31, 2023. The visitation is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM and conclude at 1:00 PM. A Celebration of Life ceremony will follow at the same location, scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM and conclude at 2:00 PM.
Barbara N. Taylor touched the lives of many with her loving nature, kind heart, and unwavering dedication. Her legacy will continue to inspire others to spread love and compassion just as she did throughout her life.
