    Linda, Joe, Carol, and Gabe,

We were so shocked to hear the sad news of Joe’s passing. It does not seem possible that someone so full of life as Joe is gone. He left behind so many happy memories.

Linda,I am so sorry to hear of Joe’s death. I was 14 yrs.old when my family met him. I am a member of the Frye Family of Vass, NC. Joe was a frequent guest at our dinner table and our home was a home away from home for him. My brothers Joe, Sam, and Bill were all good friends of his. We always referred to him as “Little Joe”. Herbie Goins, Charlie Schultz,Bob Ward, Ralph Ersik and many more use to drive into my parents yard on Saturday night after dating the local girls, open their car doors and sleep in the car rather than drive back to Ft. Bragg. It was a sight to open the door in the morning and see all those legs sticking out of the car doors. I know you will miss him and our thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family. He truly was one of a kind. Ann Frye Wallace

Joe will really be missed. If I didn’t have a smile on my face, Joe would give me one of his. I loved hearing his stories of life and his military experiences. His memory will forever be in my heart.
