STINSON, Harold Jerry –
Age 65. Passed away peacefully the afternoon of April 3, 2008.
Born March 11, 1943 in Nashville, he was the youngest son of Harold Zachariah Stinson and Verda Mangrum Stinson. His father was a World War II veteran and his mother served her country as a wartime artillery inspector. As a young man, Jerry exhibited an exemplary gift for artistic expression and he would later work as a design engineer and creative artist at Cummings Signs for over 46 years. His many logos and designs remain on display throughout the country and in popular media, and several of his works earned national awards and recognition. He grew up in West Nashville and attended Hume Fogg Technical and Vocational High School, where he met his future wife. He continued his education at the University of Tennessee in Nashville. His vast artistic talent was surpassed only by his selfless, dutiful heart. In life, he was a faithful and affectionate family man who never stopped pursuing happiness for those he loved unconditionally. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hendersonville and was a loyal believer in Christ and ardent student of Scripture. Though family and friends are deeply saddened by this loss, all find comfort in the pride they feel in having shared his wonderful life and love.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Sandra, son Gregory, brother William, sister-in-law Faye Stinson, mother-in-law and father-in-law Earline and Wesley Lewis, sisters-in-law Patsy Davis and Carol Burnett, brothers-in-law Larry Davis and John Burnett, and a host of loving nephews, nieces and devoted friends.
