Melvin Ray Harris, 66, of Goodlettsville passed away at Skyline Medical Center Tuesday, January 21, 2020. Born in Madison, TN, January 26, 1953 he was the son of the late William H. Harris and Ann Elizabeth (Woods) Harris. Melvin worked at the Whites Creek Quarry for 20 years as a dispatcher and later worked for Home Depot as a sales associate. A handy man himself, he loved woodworking and often made picture frames and decorative boxes for others. An outdoorsman, he loved camping, fishing, and nature photography. He also loved rock and roll music and “he liked his music loud”. His caring nature was reflected in the way his pets would naturally gravitate towards him. Above all, however, he was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Joy (Phillips) Harris; his two sons, Brent Harris and Arin Harris; and his brother Joel Harris as well as many friends and extended family members. Melvin was a lifelong Goodlettsville resident and was a graduate of the former Goodlettsville High School. Public visitation for Melvin will be held Saturday, January 25th at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville.

My condolences to the family. I was Joy’s co-worker for many years and I know Melvin was a great husband and father. Prayers for Joy and sons Brent and Arin.
