Lisa Gail Gibbs, age 56 of Nashville, passed away on August 15, 2015 at her home.

Lisa was born on November 15, 1958 to Arthur and Betty Lorene Sanders in Nashville, Tennessee. Starting early on in her life, her parents and siblings would vacation every year in Cumberland Mountain State Park. This tradition carried on, even when she met her husband and started to raise their children. It was said that her grandfather, Howard Carney influenced her the most. Growing up with her parents, they created in her a kind heart, gentle spirit with loving, unselfish ways. These characteristics gave her the faith and strength that most only dream of having.

Lisa enjoyed reading, scrapbooking with her daughters, and family time with the grandchildren on “Friday Night Movie Night”. She was so excited when she was able to fulfill a dream. She and Mark took a Disney Cruise one year. She tried to talk Mark into buying Castaway Cay for the family. Nothing will ever beat the year the whole family was able to go to Disney. Lisa was so happy to be able to experience it with their grandchildren.

It was told that Lisa will never know the impact she had on so many. Her simple life, loving and caring personality, and the way she held on to her faith, when times got rough, inspired so many. She will forever be remembered as a wonderful wife, devoted mother, daughter, sister, Mimi and friend to so many.

Lisa is survived by her husband of 37 years, Mark Gibbs; daughters Shannon (Matt) Baskin and Shanda (Matt) Hayes; parents, Arthur Hulon and Betty Lorene Sanders; grandchildren, Meredith Hayes, Carter Baskin, Harper Baskin, Aniston Hayes, and Callie Baskin; siblings, Gary (Becky) Sanders, Lori Connor, Joy Sanders; mother-in-law, Frances Brent; brother-in-law Tim Gibbs, numerous nieces and best friend Cathy Manger.

A Life Celebration will be held on Tuesday, August 18th, at 11am in the Chapel of Cole and Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville with Rev. Tim Gates officiating. Burial will follow at Beech Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 17th from 4-8pm then again on Tuesday from 10am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Goodlettsville Church of the Nazarene, Children’s Ministry: 400 Loretta Dr, Goodlettsville, TN 37072 in memory of Lisa Gail Gibbs and her love for children.

Oh, my, the words describing our dear sister and sister-in-law, Lisa Gail Gibbs, could not be more appropriate and beautiful! We loved her dearly, and our lives will forever be changed without her. We know that she dances in her new and glorified body with her JESUS today! I’ve adopted her words……, “Faith in God is Resting, Knowing that HE has Everything in Control.” We will do our best to love and support her precious husband, children and rest of the family in the days and years to come!

More a “sibling” to me than a “niece”. Wonderful memories of days gone by to comfort my heart in the days to come. I pray for God’s comfort for Shannon, Shanda and their families and Mark Gibbs, my nephew (and Lisa’s husband).

I will meet you in the “morning” over there sweet girl!!

Much love, Aunt Mary aka: Auntie “M”

I consider myself so lucky and blessed have been raised with Lisa and her family for 52 years of my life across the street. Lisa had always been the sweetest, kindest, considerate with such gentleness in everything she did in life. She just radiated light around her and with everything she did. She loved her Jesus, family, church and friends and went above and beyond to let you know you were special. My life has been forever changed just to know her and there will always be a piece of my heart missing with her gone. Give my sweet Dad a hug. I know you are dancing with the Angels and your light is shining brighter in the presence of our savior. Mark, Shannon, Shannon, Matt’s, her sweet grands, Hulan, Betty, Gary, Rebecca, Lori, Joy and all the rest of her precious family you are in my heart and I am praying for you. You are my forever family.
