I knew Laurel for many years. We went to school together and even though as we grew older she went with her crowd and I went with mine we always still spoke when the occasion arose. It’s sad to hear of yet another young life, classmate, and life long friend has gone too soon. RIP Laurel and my condolences to your family.

~Our whole family will need to grow as close to Jesus, and each other as we can to be able to stand the sadness and the pain of the great losses that we are, and have experienced in losing our precious Lisa, recently, and now, Laurel Dyan.

~Truly earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal~

For a tribute to Laurel…., She has truly been at peace during the past 9 months…., after, and only after, surrendering her life to Jesus! Oh, she has still had some sad and hard times, but her conversion was real!

It always amazes me to see all the ways that God draws folks to him! The Holy Spirit used a song that Laurel had been listening to, and along with her dad’s forgiving and humble spirit, she was led to Jesus, just before Christmas, last year. What precious and beautiful moments we witnessed!

I truly believe today that because of forgiveness of sins, that Laurel Dyan is with Jesus, with her Aunt Lisa, and all those who are alive in Christ. (I John 1:9)

Gary, Heather, Megan, Jana and I, thank all extended family, and friends…., for your love and prayers at this time, as we grieve our loss. Our hearts break for all Laurel’s friends, too, past and present. We hope and pray you all will experience God’s peace as she did, if you haven’t already.

Please read what Pastor Tim Gates, our Pastor from Goodlettsville Church of the Nazarene has written that describes perfectly what Laurel wanted everyone to know:

    We Mourn Together

Paul reminds us in 1st Corinthians 12:26, that when “one part of the body of Christ mourns we all mourn.” Paul was reminding us in the church that we are all part of a family, God’s family. And as a family we celebrate together and we mourn together. It is part of what makes the church so special…we rejoice together in the good times and we lift one another up in days that are hard.

This past Sunday morning we lost a precious girl from the family of GoodNaz. Laurel Tompkins was only 31 years of age and robbed early of what should have been a long life by a seizure that ultimately took her life. Laurel, by her own admission, had lived a rough life and had experienced a great deal of pain. Several months ago I had the privilege of praying with Laurel at the end of the service and her hearts desire was to leave the past behind and experience the best of what God had ahead for her.

So, as the body of Christ, we mourn! We mourn as a church and we mourn with the family. It is especially painful as it was just a month ago that we said goodbye to another family member, Lisa, whose life also ended way too short. So as the family mourns deeply, we mourn with them, for we too are a part of the family, God’s family!

    ~Thank you, Pastor Tim ~

I knew Laurel from the time she was born. Laurel was a happy and beautiful child and teenager. I remember how beautiful she looked in her blue prom dress her Nana had altered for her. She has left us way too soon but
knowing she now rest in His wonderful embrace brings comfort to me as well as her family.

Each of us deals with death in our own way and the journey of grief can be bleak and lonely. What will comfort one
will not comfort another. Grief has a new face every day. We will live on in the good memories of Laurel because
she will always live in our hearts. May we cherish these memories and live for Laurel too, whom we loved.

      Love and God Bless,

      Polly Hayes

My Sweet Laurel… I had the Blessing, honor, and privilege of being your roommate for 10 months. Although that may seem like a short amount of time to most, it wasn’t to you or I. We hit it off right away. And we instantly felt like we had known each other for years and now we have. There is a lot you can learn about each other when u live in such close quarters. I loved you from the moment we met. How could I not? You had a way with people. You had the kindest, sweetest most gentle spirit of anyone I’ve ever known. You lit up a room, with your smile, personality, and grace. People were drawn to you naturally. They admired you. You were a beautiful young woman that was loved by so many. I have so many precious memories with you that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I will never forget the late night talks or the nights we had so much to say that we didn’t sleep at all…All the times we were there for each other, all the laughs we shared or the tears we cried…You made a huge impact on my life and the lives of so many. You were truly one of a kind. My heart is broken on so many levels. Just the thought of you being gone is unbearable. Knowing I will never see your beautiful smile or hear the sound of your sweet laughter ever again justs kills me inside. I will forever miss you. And I love you like CRAZY girl…Fly High my beautiful Angel. I can see you dancing in the sky already. Meet me at the gates when its my time my beautiful friend. I love you Laurel then, now and ALWAYS!! Sincerely, Kisha<3
