Laura Sue Hiatt, 88, of Nashville, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2019. Born the daughter of the late Charles C. Moore and Florence (Adams) Moore on June 14, 1931 in Houston County, TN. Sue was also preceded in death by her brothers, Woodrow Moore and Paul Moore; and a sister, Mary Frances Merryman. Sue loved the Lord and was a true Christian woman. She was a longtime member of Grace Church of the Nazarene where she was very active. She taught Sunday School, was active with the Joy Club, served as President of the Spencer Missionary Chapter and always enjoyed being involved with Vacation Bible School. Her presence at church was felt in many areas. She was known to be a good southern cook and especially remembered for her chicken and dumplings, strawberry cake and blackberry cobbler. A true “servant” she was a welcoming spirit in the church. Always there to greet those who might be new or perhaps had not been in a while. She would greet everyone with a smile and sometimes with a joke as well. She loved to tell jokes and laugh. This often caused her difficulty in getting to the joke’s punch line as she would break out in laughter herself before finishing it. She liked to entertain in general and often would do an impression of Minnie Pearl or break out singing “A Coal Miners Daughter” in her best attempt at sounding like Loretta Lynn. At home she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She always had those chocolate chip cookies in her cookie jar too. Sue had a gift of making those she loved feel like family, no matter what the relationship may have been. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of nearly 66 years, Robert H. Hiatt; her children, James T. (Judy) Hiatt, Pamela Sue (David) Kemp, and Robert J. (Pam) Hiatt; 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Anne Walker and Yvonne Moore; as well as extended family and many friends. Visitation will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville, Friday, August 16, 2019 from 5 to 8 PM and at Grace Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 12 noon until 1 PM. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 PM Saturday at Grace Church followed by interment at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.

You were a special person! Always so full of laughter and joy. You will be missed greatly. I can just imagine you, Mother, Paul and Woody laughing and playing jokes on each other in Heaven.
