i connected with Trey recently through Facebook. We graduated together but didn’t really know each other that well in HS. I always remember him smiling and laughing and when chatting with him for a brief moment once on FB i literally was laughing out loud at some of the funny things he was saying. and he was going through a break up at the time. He was a joyful person, whom obviously was loved and will be missed. I re-read his status messages on FB and he always picked the ones that were quite meaningful. He was a wise soul, and he definitely made an impact.

    Tammy, Diann & Family,

Bruce and I are so sorry for your loss…just want you to know we are thinking of you. Trey will be missed by a lot of people. Even though we had not seen him in several years, we got reconnected through Facebook…always looked for his quotes and his postings about his girls and grandson, he was so proud of them. Prayers go out to them and your entire family.

First off, I just want to thank you Diann for the way you & Ed raised your wonderful children. Your family has had a huge and lasting positive effect on everyone they have come in contact with over the years, particularily the youth of the Madison Church of Christ. I saw Trey grow up into wonderful young man, so much like his father in so many ways. The one thing I truely admired about Ed and Trey both is that, while teaching someone from God’s word, they were not afraid to admit their failures and stumbles throughout their lives in order to show us ALL that we are indeed sinners and fall short of the Glory of Our God. This is something that is very rarely heard or admitted from a Christian minister today and especially back when we were teens. Today, I thank God for the time he allowed us to have Trey with us here on Earth. Selfishly, some may feel that he left us way too soon but just knowing he is now without sickness and pain, should put a smile on our faces. We love you ALL and will continue to keep you in our prayers.

    Your Brother in Christ,
    Todd Eldridge

My darlin friend, my Godly inspiration, I have no doubt you will be one of my guardian angels. We, as mortals, have “lost” you here, but God only takes the BEST ONES first and I know that you will be with Him in His Glorious Kingdom. God’s blessings and peace on you and your family. Love ya, Brother Trey!

We have only good memories of Trey and you, Dianne, and of Ed and the rest of your family. A good life is gone, as is his Dad’s. He had his father’s heart, for good and for bad-health. So sorry he’s gone, but the Father is smiling-BOTH are!

Trey I’m gonna miss you. After uncle Ed passed we really didn’t keep in touch like cousins should. Uncle Eddie kept the family close with the family reunions, and when he past it just wasn’t the same. I remember back to those reunions, and also to the time I spent as a youth at Valley view Christian Camp where you were a volunteer and I got to spend such quality time with my beloved cousin. I love you Trey and will miss your good works on this Earth very much. I know you are in heaven now with my uncle Eddie because you led a Christian life and believe. As the odds were against you, you rolled with the punches cuz. I learned to be a better person because of you being witness to Christ. My deepest sympathy goes out to all the Hunley family. Tears on Earth, rest in Heavenly Peace.

My family & I lived across the parking lot from him at Hickory Valley condos. The hours we would spend talking!! Most of the time with great humor but always from the heart. We talked about everything! Lately, we talked about our grandsons and how our love just grew when they came along. I will miss him. Period.

Tonight my heart hurts for the family of Trey Hunley. Diann, you and your family made such a significant impact on my early career with a new job and young family, starting out 540 miles away from home. The interest and investment you guys made in me was the beginning of my practical understanding of grace and innate value, both gifts from a Creator to His created. Your family was simply imitating what you had, yourselves, received.

As much as I grieve Trey’s leaving of this life, I take great comfort in knowing where he is at this very moment. How enraptured Trey must be..no pain, no weakness, no waiting or wondering if today will be his last..reunited with one of my heroes and Trey’s Dad, Ed, embraced by Jesus and welcomed by Father.

One more friend I look forward to seeing when I finally get called Home.

We would all be doing ourselves a huge favor to live as if this day could be our last. Trey had little choice in whether or not to exist apart from that reality. Those who knew him benefited from his perspective, his theology and his firm conviction in the Father’s absolute grace and mercy. Tonight, my prayer is simply that we would know Trey’s Savior and, in so doing, lend greater purpose and passion to the life we are given.

Thinking of you all…love you each and every one, Trey was an AWESOME person and I personally admired the way he lived, loved and smiled at life. The best and only choice he made was to love Jesus and make him his Savior. Thankful that I could call him my friend and sad that I can never hug him again…..Love you in Christ, Your Sista—-Annette “Nettie” Mayberry

I only met Trey a few times, but he had such a positive, outgoing attitude. No matter what was going on in his life, he was always able to smile and laugh. What a great person. He will certainly be missed. My thoughts are with his daughters and his family.
