I worked with Chuch very briefly at TII but I enjoyed his creativity and his sharp wit. He cared very much about the welfare of children and families. His compassion and devotion to others will be missed.

Janice, I was thinking today about one of the talks that Chuck and I had during a lunch in Nashville one day. We were looking for a place to eat lunch and he took me to Davis Kidd Booksellers cafe. He shared about how this was one of the neat places that you took him after he was diagnosed with Leukemia. He shared about how you had arranged for his friends to take him to different places and then present him with a gift at each stop. He talked about how loved he felt by you and his friends and how it made this difficult time so much better. He talked about what an amazing wife that you were and how you had a gift for doing these kind of special things that took such good care of him! He obviously realized that you were a special gift from God in his life! Chuck was an incredible man that was after God’s own heart. He brought me closer to God every time we had lunch together. I didn’t know Chuck very long but I felt close to Chuck. We had talked about getting our families together for dinner and getting to know each other even better. I will miss him. I am sorry that we did not get the chance to get to know you and Chase better. You will be in our prayers. Please don’t ever hesitate to email or call if there is anything you need.
    With love,
    Bill Ritterskamp and family

We were so very sorry to hear of Chuck’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Chase at this very difficult time. Be assured that God is true to His word. He will be a father to the fatherless and a husband to the widow. I know first hand of that reality. May God be your strength and comfort in the days ahead.

    Janice and Chase,
My thoughts and prayers are with you both. I don’t need to tell either of you anything about your husband and Daddy, but he was perhaps the kindest man I’ve ever known. So gracious and open, he hated for anyone to feel left out. During our college days, Chuck always made me feel a part of whatever was going on.
Our contact over the years since those days has been limited to reunions and homecomings, but what was true in college was true in his life. Across the years Chuck has continued to make me feel apart of what was going on. He drew me into conversations and made sure I was up to date on what had been going on in his life and on “The Hill.” He was a very special man and my life was richer because I knew him.

I regret that I will not be able to attend the service but will continue to remember you both in the days to come.

    Much Love

P.S. Chase, Your Daddy was also a man of his word. Someone offered him twenty-five cents once, to eat a cricket. I saw your Daddy eat that cricket:he chewed it up:swallowed it:and about five minutes later coughed up one of the legs:the leg was still moving:since someone had paid him a quarter to eat it, being a man of integrity he popped that leg back in his mouth and down she went:one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen.
