His contributions to the town are many but one will be his legacy:The May Implementation Plan was given life and purpose by John and his contribution when completed will make a profound difference in our community.
Last week John was in my office talking about the plan but first,as always, we had to talk about fishing, hunting and music. He was very fond of the Band of Horses and months ago he was surprised to learn that my son was a band member.
John was a talented young man and everyone here enjoyed being with him and working with him. He will be missed by all of us.

I shared some amazing times with John at both MC and Tech. His attitude and smile would leave a positive impression on anyone that met him. He was an athlete, a scholar, and an outdoorsman that I loved hanging with. I pray for the Carmack family to maintain strength in Christ and faith that we will all be together some day once again.

    2 Corinthians 1:3-5
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 5For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.

John’s life crossed paths with ours so briefly several years ago when he was vacationing in northern Wisconsin. He sat at our table, and we had just a few brief minutes to enjoy his quiet spirit and amiable personality. We know the Carmack family only from a distance, but this does not diminish the depth of our sorrow over your loss and that also of the host of friends he left behind. Oh that peace May come to your souls and grace to your lives for the coming days. God is a present help to all who call upon Him in the time of trouble. We pray this Divine blessing upon all who are missing John now.

JC a.k.a. Uncle John brought so many smiles to our faces everytime that we spent time together. From all night talks before our wedding day, to fishing on the banks in Savannah, To the 5 gallons of diesel and 3 gallons of gas to get the bon fire started, to punting a football keg off our back porch. I wish that those times could go on forever. You will be so deeply missed and always loved!

News of John’s death was an immediate shock, followed by a numbing sadness for my friend whose life was far too soon ended. The loving words of friends who have posted here in his honor – and there are so many – comfort and remind me why John was my friend in the first place. All who knew him loved him; he didn’t demand it, he simply left us no other choice.

John, from our family to you and yours, we have you all in our prayers. I, like many others, will always look back to the days where playing soccer brought us all together. You will definitely be missed, my friend .

Mr. and Mrs. Carmack and family, I am terribly sad to hear of John’s passing. I had the pleasure of working with John in Oak Ridge. He was one of the most genuine people I have ever known. Every time I saw John, he met me wtih a smile and an open hand. He was a wonderful person and he will be missed by many. My deepest condolences.

My memory is of my first class at Hendersonville High School. I was lucky enough to be seated right beside John in our typing class. John and Haskell kept me laughing to the point where I got in trouble!

I have always admired John’s gentle nature, impressive intelligence, soccer talent, and humble attitude toward life. He was just a “salt of the earth” guy.

My heart has been so very heavy since learning of John’s passing. My prayer has been and will continue to be that John be scooped up in God’s comforting arms so that he can finally feel at peace.

I have also been praying that John’s entire family feel God’s loving arms holding them up at this time and the times to follow.

I just don’t have any good enough words to say to heal your hurt right now. My heart is breaking for you. I feel helpless and frustrated that I can’t help you in any other way.

Please accept my most sincere condolences.

    Sincerely,
    Erin Patrick Cortner

I met John working for the Town of Bluffton but got to know John talking about anything but work. John’s caring nature will be greatly missed. We are left now with memories, thankfully John gave all of us so many.

Please accept my most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.

Even though I had only known John for a short period of time, his light- hearted free spirit was catching. He was extremely dedicated to whatever project was on his desk. He will terribly missed. He was one of a kind and will be difficult to replace.

He will most certainly be remembered for his humor and good heart. I am blessed to have shared an office and a friendship with John, and I am grateful for the memories he leaves us here in Bluffton.

The first time I laid eyes on John, I knew he was special. I had never heard anyone talk about life with so much excitement and vigor. He was the most gentle, humble, respectful, caring, witty man I have ever known.

He had a deep love for his friends and especially his family. Only 2 weeks ago, John spoke with so much happiness when talking about his nephew and his friends children. He was so passionate and beautiful, inside and out. May he finally be at peace, and May he finally feel the joy that he always brought to others. His smile is forever etched in my memory and my heart. Love forever, Roni

I remember the one and only time I met and hung out with John in Chilton, WI in July of 2008. We had a wonderful time and from then on we became great friends. We would talk on the phone for hours and he always made me feel so great about myself. I truly miss him.
