My favorite memory of Aunt Bea (among many) she and Uncle Frank took the train to visit us in Florida in the 70s and I went with my grandparents Vance and Maye to pick them up. Aunt Allie Bea stumbled stepping off the train and said, “Hi y’all, just though I’d drop in.” Her keen sense of humor and quick wit are matchless. To know her was to love her.

My memories of Aunt Bea go back at least 65 years. My earliest impressions of her involve her hearty and ready laughter. I don’t remember her EVER being involved in gossip or showing ill-will toward anyone. She always had a story to tell that was peppered generously with giggles. When asked about that train trip to Daytona Beach those many years ago by Daddy regarding what day they would arrive, she said, “On the twelfth of Daytona.” She laughed as much as everyone else at her flub. She was a devoted wife and mother and so precious to all of us 39 cousins. I loved her my whole life and always will.

My family thought a lot of Mrs. Sheppard. We went to the same church for awhile in the sixties. When she was a teacher at Gateway Elementary she would bring my son Keith home when was sick. He really liked her and was sorry to hear of her passing as we all were. My deepest condolences to Susan, Dan and all the Sheppard family.
