Donna Stephens

Donna Peay Stephens, 87, a lifelong resident of Goodlettsville, passed away at her home on Monday, May 16, 2022. Born January 21, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Joseph M. Peay and Pauline Ott Peay of Goodlettsville. Donna was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Jack H. Stephens. Donna and Jack were high school sweethearts at Goodlettsville High School where she was salutatorian of her class of 1953. A talented athlete and captain of the girls high school basketball team where she played guard; she made all city in basketball and later played for the former Draughons Business College in Nashville.

Donna grew up on the family farm, Peay Hollow Orchards where she worked with her parents and grandparents in her youth.

A lifelong member of Connell Memorial United Methodist Church in Goodlettsville, Donna was active as a UMYF counselor in the 1970’s and member of the women’s church softball team and later coached.  Donna loved to travel and had visited all 50 states and several foreign countries but her favorite place on earth was home. She enjoyed being outside as gardening was her favorite pastime.

She is survived by her three daughters, Lisa (Jim) Moore, Leslie (Marty) Crump, and Linde (Mark) Waller; two granddaughters, Stephanie (David) Rice and Andrea Moore (Brad) Henley; great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Jaxon Rice; her sister, Judy (Don) Adkins; extended family and a host of friends.

Visitation for Donna will be held at Friday, May 27th at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville from 4 to 7 PM and Saturday, May 28th at Connell Memorial UMC, Goodlettsville from 10 – 11 AM. A memorial service will follow at the church at 11 AM.
